Myofascial Cupping

How it works

Where an adjustment targets a specific joint and dry needling targets a specific point, cupping works across a broader area of tissue. Suction lifts the skin and fascia rather than compressing it, which is a different input to anything achieved with hands alone.

It is particularly useful for physically demanding work and heavy training blocks, where large areas of tissue are loaded repeatedly rather than one isolated point. Cups may be left in place or moved through the tissue depending on what is being treated.

Questions

About Myofascial Cupping

Cupping is generally well tolerated. You may feel a gentle pulling sensation as suction is applied. Mild soreness or temporary skin discolouration can occur, which is a normal response and usually settles within a few days.

The circular marks are a normal response to suction drawing blood flow toward the surface. They are not bruises in the usual sense and typically fade within a few days.

Usually yes, though it is worth easing into your first session afterwards. If there is a specific reason to hold off, you will be told at the appointment.

Also available

Often used alongside this.

Chiropractic Care

Manual adjustment and joint mobilisation to improve spinal function, reduce discomfort and restore movement where joints have stopped working properly.

Rehabilitation & Recovery

Structured, individual exercise programs that rebuild strength and stability, so the problem is less likely to return once the pain has settled.

Dry Needling

Fine needles into trigger points within tight or overactive muscle to release tension and reduce referred pain. Works well alongside hands-on treatment.
